About this kit
Early Bird Readers is a sight-reading program that will help you give your child a head start in the most important aspect of their basic education.
A child who already knows how to read upon entering grade school or even preschool/kindergarten will have a big advantage in every other field of study. Children can learn to read starting as young as two or three years of age. Research has shown that the earlier they start, the easier it is for them to learn.
Sight reading is based on teaching children to recognize words by memory. It can precede or be used in conjunction with a phonics-based reading program.
Basic vocabulary is built one word at a time. Once children have made their way through the books, they will have learned how to read many of the most commonly used words in the English language.
Also included in the Early Bird Readers program is a CD with a full reading of each of the books in the series, read at a pace that a beginning reader would be reading the text. A child who is learning to read or practicing his or her reading can play the CD, and follow along aloud with the reader.
